Here are five pages from my webpage.
I have done one home page explaining about the school.
A subjects page with a list of subjects the school has to offer.
An Art page explaining about the course.
A Media page explain what the course does along with some images of the soaps and films studied.
And, an Animation page explaining about the course, what the student will do and gain from the subject.

The Diagonal Rule:

For this rule I captured the Cathedral:

The Rule of Thirds

For the rule of thirds I captured three seperate images.

The first is of George a friend of mine, the second a goose down at the lake and the third one of my Dutch rabbit having a nibble on a piece of grass.

Balance

To show balance I captured the tall mirroring spires of Lincoln Cathedral.

Simplicity
Here is the simpilist image I could capture:
Dominant Element

Here is an image that I captured of Dominant Element:

The new dragon statue that will be placed on the outside of the Cathedral dominants this image and stands out more than anything else.

Eye flow

Here are some examples of eye flow I have managed to capture:

The first is of inside Lincoln Cathedral.

The eye is lead down the image by the roof of the Cathedral and ends at the organ at the end.

The second is a HDR image that I did of the quarry. The two conveyor belts lead the eye toward the machine at the end called 'The Big Hopper.'

Finally, after I had imported them I had to put the nav bar back together again.

The next stage was to cut the nav bar into different sections, save them and import them into WebPlus 10.

The next stage was to add writing to the nav bar.

Selecting the text tool I clicked were I wantedthe text to be an typed:

  1. Home
  2. About Us
  3. Staff
  4. Parents
  5. Links

into separate boxes.

To complete this stage all I had to do was to select the bolt and place it roughly in the middle of the nav bar at the top, giving the effect that the nav bar was being held up by a bolt through it.

Next, to add a bit more to the nav bar, to make it look more interesting.

For this I did a bolt.

Drawing a circle and colouring it a light grey I then chose a tool called the 'Burn' tool.

The 'Burn' tool when dragged over a certain area makes the colour darker. This can be layered to create a darker shade of the first colour.

I had to adjust the expose so that the area did not become to dark.

Also keeping the exposure low allows for better control.

To create a shine on the metal I used a tool called the 'Dodge' tool.

This tool works in the opposite way to the 'Burn' tool. When dragged over an area it lightens the area down. Again this can be layered and exposure adjusted.

Now that the nav bar looked more interesting, it was time to add some colour.

This colour could then be made to fade out at the top, bottom, sides or corners.

I chose to keep it plain.

The rectangle looked boring on its own.

So to make it more interesting I added a point at the bottom.

To start making the nav bar, I had to open a program called Photoshop and draw a rectangle.

At this stage the rectangle did not nead colouring.

Here is the layout for the animation page and also the other pages on the site.

The colour scheme is the same as the home page.

Information is not to long, but tells the viewer what they want to know about the course.

An image from one of the films (on the animation page) is seen near the top of the page. Half of it sits behind the nav bar.

The teacher of the course is picture on the ight of the page, like with the head master on the home page.

Examples of students work can be viewed. Information about each clip is below or above the pieces of work.

Awards for the course can be seen at the bottom of the page.

Webpage design - Home page

This is the home page of NK school website.

The nav bar is not to big and easy to navigate.

There sill be information about the school.

Awards will be displayed at the bottom of the page.

A picture of the Head Master will also be on the front page, along with a quote.

Here is the coloured version of the above.
The colours will not be just plain (like the green). They will fade off into a white.
The colour scheme will not be to over powering.
It will be formal and fit in with the schools colours of yellow and green.

Questions on website

1. What is your website purpose?
The purpose of my website is to inform people about NK school. What awards the school have won and what goes on in and around the school.

2. Who is your audience?
The audience is anyone looking to come to NK school, and also for parents to see if the school is for their children. Anyone aged 11 and up.

3. What does the webpage have to communicate?
  • How well the school has done
  • what the school is currently doing
  • what the school hopes to achieve next
  • other information about the school and what it has to offer

4. What will the personality of the website be? (formal, informal or fun if it is a primary school)

  • The website will be formal as it is for parents and students
  • It will not all be writing - there will be a few pictures/illistrations/photos
  • Easy to navigate
  • Formal colours
  • Interesting layout
Questions on conventions:

1. What is a convention?
A convention is the norm where a majority of things comply. A convention is not the coming together of a group of people for a Star Wars convention.

2. Why are they useful?
Conventions are useful as they help to build up a picture of what a certain thing is meant to be.

3. Do we use them all the time?
No. Sometimes we break conventions as this makes them more appealing.

4. What conventions are found in web design?
Colums with text - Nav bar - easy to navigate
- information about a certain thing/object
Title to text - Bold titles are attractive.
Describing text - gives information on a certain area - used to describe a picture.
Header along with logo - title for a page and logo of school/company - lets viewers know they are still on that schools/companies website.

Here are some webpages I looked at to get an idea of layout, design, colour schemes and information used on a school website.
